As an example, if frontside illumination gives one stop more noise immunity, then sensors can be made smaller, meaning more image chips on a wafer (read less expensive). On the other hand it could also mean more sensitivity for larger pixels. I'm hoping that someone (are you listing fuji) will work to make more dynamic range.
