Is the price difference in the 580EX II and the Metz 76MZ-5 Digital worth it?

I do some events and a lot of out doors portraits. I am using a 50D and a 30D for back up. I have a 580EX II with the CP-E4 battery pack now but it starting to give me a little trouble, it miss fires and I think it is time for a new one. I am using two 430EX’s for back up.

Thanks for the advice.

It does it with both, also hand holding pushing the test button.

Any body using the Metz 76MZ-5?
Is it worth the extra money over the 580EX II?

'Worth the extra money'...

The Metz has more power (GN76 vs. GN58) means that the Metz uses f/8 out to 13' farther.

The Metz is easily made to support ANY other camera brand via the appropriate module, while the 580EX is limited to Canon cameras.

Canon dSLR system, Olympus OM 35mm system, Bronica ETRSi 645 system, Horseman LS 4x5 system, Metz flashes, Dynalite studio lighting, and too many accessories to mention
