I'm wanting to take portraits, weddings, senior pictures, etc. I've debated back and forth between a big octabox and a beauty dish, but after talking to some people, I think I'm going to go with a beauty dish. I would most likely be working with younger models most of the time.

What I'm thinking...

-B800
-22in Beauty Dish
-Beauty Dish Sock
-13ft HD stand
-Boom arm???

I've been looking for a boom arm that isn't too expensive, but I think AB's discontinued their boom arm  Any recommendations?

For what I'm shooting, how will the grid help me?

Also, I've been trying learn more about setting up/positioning lights. Is there a good place/website that has would be able to show me these things?

Thanks!

-Jon

First off ditch the AB HD stand its overpriced go to adorama and pick up a Savage HD air cushioned for $69. Next alien bees are great lights, how do you plan to trigger them?

Also that AB/Savage boom is junk, they both use the cheap pancake clamp that can fail under use
