Hey anyone heard of the Leonid Meteor Shower?? Is it viewable in the uk or is it the US and Asia only??

This year 2009 the best viewing spots will be Southern Asia, Northern and Eastern Australia.

Anyone else watching James May's Toy Stories where he's building a scalextric full size Brooklands circuit on the original site? Some people have great jobs don't they.

Has any of your significant others ever made you this kind of Birthday cake: http://www.coolest-birthday-cakes.com …cake-design-ideas.html#c1 (external link) ?

I'm thinking of dropping hints to mine. :)

Found this on the interweb for any Windows 7 users who want an even faster boot up.

This tweak will help you to decrease the boot time of windows 7 only if you have a multiple core processor.

  1. Press [Win] + R or take the RUN option from the start menu.
  2. Now type msconfig in there and press Enter Key to open up the System Configuration Window. Click on the Boot tab in there. You will see a box called Time out. This is the time (in sec) which the system waits for the user to select the operating system to boot to.
  3. If you use only a single operating system (don't dual boot) you can safely set the value to 3. But if you have more than one operating system installed then set it to a larger number.
  4. Now after doing the above step click the " Advanced Options " button. The Boot Advanced Options Window will then pop up.
  5. Tick the check box saying "Number of Processors". Now click on the drop down box and select the maximum number of processor cores (might be 2 or more).
  6. Press " OK " and also tick the " No GUI Boot " option too.
  7. Click " Apply "and then on " OK " and that's it.

I did see a small improvement when I did this but I am not convinced my computer was ever waiting 30 seconds for me to choose an OS to load (I have no dual boot and the whole system is up in 20 odd seconds)- so my feeling is that you could safely skip and changes in steps 1 to 3 and go straight to 4 :)

I did this (finally!) and broke my computer with BSOD! I reverted back to how it was and all is well again!!

hmmm i did that and it was fine, no major noticable speed up though....

have you tried just one option at a time to see which one breaks your computer?
