Testing...

Testing what?

Just got back from a work trip and read through the last 10 pages! You've all been busy bunnies :)

Pete - DO NOT SELL YOUR GEAR. I've only met you once at Connaught and the images you got there with (seemingly little effort) eclipsed mine to such a degree that I could not bring myself to post any of mine. If you sell your gear, I'll have to sell mine and I'm not ready to give up yet. You've got big sh*t on a work right now - deal with that and then sort out your photography. Your photos inspire me and many others here.

I've been in a huge rut recently and was hoping that the Dover meet would get me out of that. I was going to ask you for lessons  . Stick with it - you have a gift.

Yay!!!!!! Pete still no joy with IE but can still post with safari....my wife has come off the phone saying she could not use msn earlier so I don't know if that has something to do with it. Having said that it was okay for me earlier. Will scan my pc for viruses

It might well be something inside the internet options inside IE that's been changed/corrupted. MSN may share some of those settings.

Bugger - I was hoping to get some cheap shots in about Policemen but I guess that will have to wait now ;)

Can't wait to get home now - one more sleep and then back to Blighty :)

Got to agree with everyone on keeping your gear.I enjoy seeing the pics you post. I followed the link to your gallery. My wife happened to pass by when the owl shot was up. She stopped and stared at the screen and told me that was a superb shot.

I have gone months this year without shooting because work was a drag and I felt no inspiration or desire to do so. But every time I go back to it, I really enjoy it.

And I think you would miss it if you did anything like getting rid of your gear.

The solution is what I try to do. Try and get the pictures I enjoy most (candids, architecture, ...) when I'm on my own and take pictures which might have less artistic merit or are less technically considered when I'm with the family. I might be average at best at shooting in a family setting, but my family doesn't care about the technical merits of my pics and the lighting.

I travelled to Stratford with my wife and Dominica with her and the kids. I didn't bring many technically outstanding pics back from either but got lots of memories.

Everybody is happy (well, except for me wanting to go back to the Caribbean for 2 weeks to shoot "properly" ;) ) and you get a nice mix of pics to show off.

Pete

I second this, your shots are really great, if you are in the dulldrums put your equipment away for a couple of months and see how you feel come spring. If you sell it and change your mind it would be very expensive to replace it and I bet you have looked after you stuff. Even if you downgraded some of it you would not make that much money and imo not worthwhile.

Ever since I found the light ( this thread ) I have always been in awe of you photographs

That is my opinion for what it is worth.
