No-one had wave blocked at work yet then? I'd be very surprised if it wasn't blocked at mine seeing as most e-mail/messaging sites are already blocked.

The 5DII is such a wonderful bit of kit - i would never have picked those as high ISO.

How are you finding things with the 1.4? I was looking for it the other day, almost convinced myself that i had lost it! (along with the UV filter i lost at Donna Nook). Then i remembered that i lent it to you - panic over!

The extender is looking pretty good IQ wise.
Only tried it with a few shots today in the garden and altough no AF and a max apature of f8 images look good so far.

If you need it back Rob (or indeed want) just shout i will arrange to get it back to you, i appreciate the lend don't want to get caught taking the proverbial:D:D

I wouldnt want to change this thread in any way. Its great as it is.

Wave is good for organising meets that not everyone in the thread is going to be on ( WHF for example) or meets that need a degree of discretion (UE'ing).

I disagree in part. WHF is being organised through a new thread - that is enough. UE is totally different and by definition require "discretion".

Depends on what you block. We do evrything at the port level, not content level.

The UE'ing go through text or PM .. I personally can't see the advantage of them being posted on Wave, especially if what is posted is viewable by all and not just who is part of the convo!

Can I go all old skool and suggest we just start an IRC channel?

I join Rob in saying that the thread is fine as it is.

The problem with taking the "chatter" off POTN is that it takes away potentially useful information from POTN (and the rest of us who aren't on these other sub-waves of communication lose out). There's also the fact that if the discussion starts getting technical, then it's very unlikely that it will move back to POTN.

Yes, the thread moves quite quickly, but it doesn't really matter if people don't catch up religiously (it's a bit like watching a soap on the telly, I guess).

Lastly, the community spirit here is the reason why many of us like to be here. Take the heart out of that community, then it won't be such a fun place to be.

Just my opinion.

each wave is private and only viewable by those invited to it.

That does make a difference I guess .. Still as others have said it's banter that keeps this thread alive! :D

It's like when one of the old threads go spam'd within an inch of it's life and a second thread was going to be started, it just wouldn't have been the same! :)

True - but we then create a "sub culture", an enviroment for the "haves and have nots". I love the gossip in this thread and would rather stay here than have to go to another site to keep up with stuff. All our meets go on page one and Victors antics go through PM. I don't see a need for anything else unless what Rich said about chatter was a view held by the majority here.

Boy that is close! I'm guessing the guy putting his hand up is the handler?

Are we all getting older in February or something?

It would seem that way.

=Matt 'Photog' Peters;9203204]The question is, who is getting older first! ;)

I would say that's likely to be me. Turning 30 on the 1st Feb. ;)

No sense and unfortunately not enough money.

We have blocked ports and webwasher to block sites, to the loony extremes that sourceforge is blocked as file sharing, a lot of other sites where I've been hunting for help with javascripting and html/css hacks for IE6 are also blocked under the auspices of "personal/blogging sites". Blooming irritating when it's hard to find information 10 years out of date.

I was joking, I've used a number of sites where an IIRC channel was offered as a relation. Good and fun a decade ago when forums were very primitive, but these days forum software is so good I see little need for assistive extras. IRC channels usually end up with just idle bots once the wonder of trout slapping wears off.
