Im kind of aware of the camera snobs that are out there , personally i don't give a monkeys what people think, yes the camera is way better than me , so i will have to step up to the challenge.I have been fortunate to be able to buy some good kit that will outlast me. So far i have found people on here to be very helpfull, and its much appreciated. After all, we all strive to achieve the same thing surely, to get pictures that make us go "WOW" and bring enjoyment to others at the same time.

it is one hell of a camera, done a lot of research on it before i bought it, had a very rough year so this was a special treat to make up for things. Dont intend buying another camera , so bought one built to last. looking to join local camera club to help speed up the learning process, will keep reading posts on here as well.

many thanks for your help guys

It is a beauty of a beast that's for sure. I've had one for a couple of years now, it does take some getting used to.

Welcome to the thread by the way, if I haven't already. Any nice piccies of the part of the SE that you come from with the new toy?

You won't find any of those kind of people in here, for sure, in fact you shouldn't find any on the whole of POTN.

Just keep playing with it and posting on POTN and we'll all have you exhibiting in no time :)

Welcome to the thread - there are a thoroughly decent bunch of (very talented) folks here and they'll bend over backwards to help with most things!

I have to say I for one like your approach, get the best it'll last a lifetime and you'll grow into it - I wish I'd bought a better camera first (would have saved me buying another so soon after!) and as so many have said it's all about the photos not the black box that holds them!

looking forward to seeing some more shots once you've 'tamed' the monster! ;);)

Lee :D

And not to forget we do have SE POTN meets & get togethers every so often ~ just where are you, as sometimes just 3 or 4 meet up on an ad hoc basis such Victor and his UE outings ?

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

well back from a cold day at Heathrow. Not been down there for a year so took the chance to update my stock images. Very cold but some good photos.

Had the 100-400 on the MKIII and 300 + 2x on the MKIIN

A couple of photos. edited on lappy so not sure if they are ok or not, they look fuzzy here when posted.

Hey Mungo, great camera you have chosen. The MKIII is amazing, really comes into its own for sports and moveing objects. What glass are you attaching to the front?

Apologies, if I missed you, this thread does move very quick sometimes :D

Ahh, my mum lives in Ashford too :)
I saw your pics and you got some great replies, which should keep you busy reading for a while :) All I can add is that to make sure that your shutter speed is at least the same speed as your focal length. i.e. you shot at 73mm at 1/40, whereas you should have used a shutter speed of say 1/100.

If you don't have time to read every post in here every day, and not many people do :D then just keep your eye on the first post of this thread where all meets are announced.

I used to love that series.

It got really pants after the shadow wars though.

It's ALL good. Though wish they hadn't been forced to end the Shadow War half a season early. I think I watch it all every 6 months or so and am still spotting things that I've missed before. Straczynski is such a great writer.

And Mungo, welcome to our area of madness.

Chris was trying to say you should aim to keep your shutter speed above the focal length to try and reduce camera shake and movement

so 73mm - 1/100, or 400mm use higher that 1/400

don't use 73mm and 1/20 or its likely it will be blurry.

Make sure that your shutter speed is at least the same speed as your focal length.

At least, is the key word, the shutter speed should be higher.
