Was listening to the latest SqueezeTheLime podcast last night and they had a segment on what they would by now if they were starting out as pros again. One recommended the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 as having slightly better IQ than the 24-70L, though slightly slower focusing especially in lower light.

Oooh. The price isn't bad either. Tempting...

Also, I did a search for it on DPReview and can't see a formal review, but the forum messages about it in there all seem uniformly full of praise (given the price, you can forgive the 28mm - I have 2 wider lenses anyway - and the fact it's not USM fast).

Leith Hill! :) On one of the circular-walk footpaths leading from the Tower ...

Cheers!

David :)

Sheesh, at least the kit & body armour was up to the job back then!

The new stuff is better I was lucky it hit my ceramic plate and the range it was fired a couple of inches either side and it would of been a different story.

Eeep, my old man was in NI in the 70s, "highlights" were being shot in the leg and watching a lot of his mates blown up by IEDs. He doesn't talk about it much, but it gives you an idea of what the guys must be facing in Afghanistan/Iraq when he does.

From talking to guys I know Afghanistan has got worse since 2006 when we went in in force, I saw more action in a 6 month tour there than I saw in in 5 tours in NI.

The main drags are clear and the rest are clearing as traffic uses them.

I have the utmost respect for people that can do this. I've no idea how I'd cope but I suspect I'd be useless being shot at etc.

6 month tour back in 2006, the lads still out there deserve everyone's support and they do appreciate it when shown.

It's all ok now ennit? - All the 'freedom fighters' have been forgiven (by some) and have been promoted to MPs and given other senior positions - The mind will never stop boggling. I won't get up on my favourite soapbox as it is beyond the remit of a photography forum - but I could be tempted - reading Sunday's Mail makes my blood boil and I need a few days to calm down.

I watched Hurt Locker on the plane out to Hong Kong a couple of weeks ago, good film well worth a watch.

I need to do some prints that are not glossy, big poster prints say 50cmx50cm any ideas where I could go?
