Sent in a 40D because it was firing erratically. They quoted me $150 to fix it out of warranty. I sent in the 17-55 just to test the lens on the body.

They replaced the whole top of the camera because something was loose, and the shutter release wasn't making correct contact all the time. That's fine, as that was covered by the $150 quote. I also look at the repair notes and they say - LENS: Replaced the Image Stabilization unit, cleaned unit and calibrated to body. That I didn't pay for and they did it for free. All this in a week.

I was mighty impressed.

I know... Jamesburg has replaced the back half of my 3+ year old 70-200L f4 at no charge. Just recently they replaced the focusing motor on my 6+ year old 50mm 1.4 at no charge.

BTW does anybody know when Jamesburg open tomorrow Friday? I want to stop in first thing in the morning as I've got to get back into the city quick.

+1 for Jamesburg, I was working in Princeton NJ for 3 days, dropped my XSI and 2 lenses off on Monday and they had all repairs done and lenses re-calibrated in 2 days. Dan works the counter and is great to work with and the factory is really easy to find, just off of exit 8A on the NJ Turnpike.
