Nice shots. Love the post production.

Don't care for the tilt in the first one but that is just a personal preference and think it would have been better without the dude standing in the background staring at your light stand. I think the last one would have been better with a bit of fill light in the eyes, just enough to see them but still leaving the shadow effect.

At least you are keeping him busy. :-)

What type of fog machine do you use and are you happy with how it performs. I have been looking to get one so any thoughts would be appreciated.

The fog machine was a spur of the moment thing.

In my research, I found a cool shot in a gym that was really hazy, so I thought I'd grab a fog machine on the way to the shoot. I called a local Party City and they were packing up all their Halloween stuff that very afternoon. The manager said he had one left - but no juice - that I could have for $15. You bet - I'll take it!!! So I picked it up and went to Target at the other end of the strip center. They had a shelf of juice bottles in their clearance Halloween section for $2.50 a quart. (Sometimes in life, things don't work out. But sometimes they just do!)

I actually don't even know what brand unit it is, but I remember it is 400watts. It only stays on for about 10-15 seconds then shuts off for about a minute. That didn't produce enough fog to put a good haze in the room, so we fell back to just pointing it behind the fighter, then down low at his knees.

I found out quickly you don't need much fog to create a nice effect, especially w/ strong back lighting. What looks good to the naked eye is usually WAY too much in camera.

Thanks for the info. I am going to start my search. I really like that effect.

Thanks again.
