If all that is really different is that the back sticks out a bit more, would you be able to use say kenko extention tubes an have a 17-55 work on a 5d2?

You would also loos the ability to focus at distance again depending on the tube used. Why do you want to do this? Not sure why, but call me JJ.

That would be best. The 24-70 on a full frame is about as perfect as the 17-55 on a crop. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

XsiBrian Member 64 posts Joined Oct 2008 Location: California More info | I tried this when I first got my Kenko Tubes (for fun) and while it works with a 12mm tube >~35mm, the shorter focal lengths can only focus inside the lens (Negative working distance). At 55mm the infinity focus is around 6-8" and if I recall correctly the corners were very much black. There is little real use for this setup beyond curiosity.

racketman Cream of the Crop More info | Nov 06, 2009 16:11 | #9 I've played with 60efs on a tube mounted on a 1DMKIII and works well as a macro lens with focus range from about 3" in front of the lens at 1:1 to 13" at 00. With the Canon 12 tube you keep AF.

Not forgetting that as the lens is moved away from the sensor (by the tube) then the image circle will become larger....exactly why extension tubes result in greater magnification. 1Dx2 (2), 5DSR, 1Ds3, 1D4, 5D2(590nm), 5D2(720nm) EF600 EF400 EF300-II EF300 EF200 EF200-II EF180L EF135L EF100 EF85-II EF50L TS-E17/4 TS-E24L-II TS-E45 TS-E90 MP-E65 EF70-200-II EF24-70/2.8-II EF16-35/4 EF8-15/4 EF11-24/4 Zeiss 15/2.8 21/2.8 25/2 28/2 35/1.4 35/2 50/2 85/1.4 100/2 135/2 T/C's L-SC & a WIFE!
