Went for a walk through Central Park today and just as I sat down to put my camera away, I look at the bench to my right and see a couple...He's down on one knee...she's in tears...she says "I do."

Not the best perspective, but there's no way I'd ruin that moment by running around to get a better view...Everyone congratulated them and clapped after it happened...you can see a few people looking over knowing what was going on...

Did you tell them you captured it and offer them the print?

That's a terrific shot, and I like the angle you got -- I think it makes the shot that much more special. +1 for B.Miller's question -- a print of this moment (and the way you captured it) would make a great beginning to a wedding album.

This is a truly amazing photo: It shows New Yorkers with emotion.

I kid, I kid (sort of). ;)

But on another note: What the heck is that couple doing in the middle of the photo? Are they actually measuring how far they walk with measuring wheels?

I shouldn't complain, however. I live in the South, and 99% of the stereotypes about the South are true.

EDIT: Scratch that: Someone is using razor scooters. I guess New Yorkers are normal people afterall. ;)

Thank you. bw!

At first, I thought it would have been nice to be zoomed in on the couple, but I realized you did the right thing by not disturbing them. I actually like this composition now because now you can see other people smiling looking at the man proposing to his girlfriend. I wish someone takes a photo of me like that when times comes, and I get down on one knee. Great photo!!!!

Very nice capture.

I'm sure it would be nice for the couple to see this photo too... even though they probably won't. :(

Nice capture of a special and spontaneous moment. I bet they would love to have this print.

Thanks all...unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to tell them. I waited a couple minutes but they were hugging and crying and I wasn't really sure if they would react well or not to my picture...so, I basically decided to just let it be and not disrupt their moment.

I kinda wish that I did go up to them in hindsight, but I was kind of taken by surprise by the whole moment and really didn't want to do anything to ruin it.
