pretty easy, just take a piece of black foam core as your background.

have an incense holder about a foot in front of it.

place remote flash to left and behind foam core pointing at incense

reflector opposite pathway of flash

and shoot some photos!

oh and then edit in photoshop :)

I attempted this a few weeks back without any success.. I Only have my Canon's built in flash and used a torch as a replacement at the side.. Needles to say, the results where nowhere like this.. In fact the best one turned out like...
