Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 II fit a d30?

My younger brother is sporting an old school D30. I was wondering if the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 would be able to mount up on it. I only ask because I know EF-s Mount lenses didnt start working on 1.6x Canon DSLRs until the 20D. I didnt know if that was for strictly Canon EF-s mount or if that included all manufacturer's "digital" mounts.

even though it's a "digital only lens"...i would guess that it would still have an EF-mount like most of the other third party lenses

Thats what I was hoping for, but Id like to make sure. Does anyone reading this thread own the lens and have an EF (only) body? Id really like to get confirmation before I buy him one as a Christmas present.

From the forums it is my understanding that Tokina, Sigma, Tamron etc. make EF lens mount lenses with a smaller image circle for APS-C cameras. So it should be fine, but I've never tried it out myself.

Yes, its an EF-S mount lens designed for the 1.6x crop cameras.

I have this lens and it does mount on EF only body. http://www.youtube.com​/watch?v=c3nzZ9QnonU sorry for crappy webcam quality, but here you can see 17-50 on old EOS film body. The AF works, same with aperture, and there is no trouble for mirror. In my opinion it should work on D30 fine
