Hey everyone!

I just found my Prinzgalaxy 400mm F6.3 analog lens and I want to use it on my Canon Eos 1000D.

What do I need? :)

Thanks.

This lens looks almost identical to my Paragon 400mm f/6.3, which has a M42 camera fitting, it looks like your lens has a bayonet fitting, Do you know what it is?

alternatively you could remove the bayonet adaptor to reveal a T2 thread, then you can use one of these adaptors : LINK (external link)

If you dont want AF confirm then you can save a little bit by buying one without AF confirm such as this : LINK (external link)

** note, i didnt bother looking for the best prices of the adaptors, the AF confirm one i linked to is about $40, but you should be able to get one for much less, My M42 AF confirm adaptor cost me £10

Well this site says it has a T-mount: http://olympuszuiko.wordpress.com …th-a-spiratone-400mm-f63/ (external link)

One of the lenses I had discussed was the ubiquituous Spiratone 400mm f/6.3 T mount pre-set lens, which appears in many different incarnations labelled variously as Spiratone, Lentar, Soligor, Tele-Astranar, Howard Sterling, Cambron etc etc. They are essentially the same lens, from the same manufacturing line, possibly Tamron.

But I really don't know anything about these fittings.

Does this image help you out?

RobinSchouten ist that the same lens that you have mounted on a Canon EOS camera? If so, I don't understand your problem. If it fits one canon EOS camera, it will fit another, you just have to use it manually.
Ah, I see the second photo shows an adapter fitted.

You just have to determine what mount your lens is and there will be an adapter to allow you to put it on an EOS camera.

By the way, to say that a lens is analog or digital is a misnomer. The same glass works the same way whether you are shooting a Canon 1V film camera or a 1Ds Mark III digital camera. Some lenses are advertised as digital because they supposedly added new coating to reduce inner reflections that show up on digital sensors--but many say they can see no difference between earlier lenses of the same model an the "digital" versions.

Canons to the left, Canons to the right,
We hold our L glass toward the light,
Digitizing in a snap reflective glory
That will forever tell our imaged story.

Yes, thanks. But the point is that I'm not sure if that the right fitting. Just because this particular site says it's a T-mount, doesn't really make me sure.

Ask the seller?

What seller? I have had this lens for a while now and I didn't buy it anywhere.

But I just placed a bid on a T-mount T2 Canon adapter ;).

It's worth trying. :D

Take a picture of the mount and post it up. Someone will be able to identify it.

My mistake. I don't generally get my lenses for free.

AFAIK All the Spiratone, Lentar, Soligor, Tele-Astranar, Howard Sterling, Cambron etc. lenses used a T2 mount as the primary mounting and depending on the fitment needed the correct adaptor needed to be used.

As i said my lens had a T2 to M42 adaptor fitted, Your lens apears to have a bayonet fitting of some kind, these adaptors can be removed to reveal the T2 mount.

As all of my manual lenses are M42 fit i left the T2-M42 adaptor on my 400mm lens and use a M42-EF adaptor with the AF confirm chip.

I also have a T2-EF adaptor which i use to mount my camera to a telescope.

I have attached 2 images of the lens mount, the first image shows the lens with the T2-EF adaptor fitted, the second image shows the T2 thread without the T2-EF adaptor fitted.
