Great. Well... there's my post. Let's see how I do.

By the way, Geno, that shot is mesmerizing. I'm a sucker for contrasty black and whites.

Thanks. You already know I like your portrait. :)

BTW, all the processing on that shot was done with Lightroom only. A little plug for Tony's RAW processing thread. :)

Yeah when you expose and frame properly in the beginning it can keep the PP to a minimum. KILLER SHOT Geno.

Ok, I feel left out. I kinda haven't gotten into lightroom yet. But all PP was done in ACR for me.(except the slight sharpening.)

Is HDR (High Dynamic Range) allowed? I did not see anything regarding this in the Processing Rules.

Also, how much information are we allowed/required to post with our photos? So far I see the typical camera, lens, focal length, aperture, shutter speed, and ISO speed values, and one with a title. This is what I am thinking of including, plus maybe a brief description, suh as the location where it was shot, or what the main subject in the photo is (e.g. if it's a bird shot, I could say what type of bird it is). -- How much information is too much?

Just an opinion but sometimes Less is More.

If it's a strong image, let it speak for itself. ;)

So it was my lack of writing skills that made me "First Loser" last year?

we also prefer exif in tact. In case there is any challenge (we had a challenge last year where one of the participants didn't believe the photos were taken in the allotted time)

for scanned film shots, we understand that it will be absent...

Eeks. I'm gonna hope that my camera's clock was accurate. I never set it.

I have a habit of doing save for web(because it does an automatic switch to sRGB and 8-bit) which destroys the EXIF. But I have the RAW file so... can I just show it when there is a dispute? Or should i replace this one?

I agree with you on this. I just wanted to make sure in case I want to use an image for which I deem that a little bit more information can help understand the photo without spoiling it.

camera, aperture, focal length, iso, shutter speed are the things we ask for.

Any other information is always nice. Thus far we've never had "too much" so I'm sure that whatever is posted would be helpful.

As for HDR is it allowed. It falls under the processing is allowed but beware, because if it's badly done, the judges will grade it harshly.

Thank you Permie. Yeah, my concern with HDR was more regarding the EXIF. I think it can get lost depending on which program is used to assemble the image. I'll have to be certain before I decide to use one for this contest. At least I've gotten the hang of making HDR images that do not look so artificial with a ton of halos and light bleed as when I first attempted this process. :)
