Car Shoot Location ~ San Jose Area

I am planning to shoot several cars in the San Jose area and would like some advice on locations in the area. i'm open to any interesting locations.

I would suggest try scouting areas around you. That way at least you know if your content with the location. I personally don't know the San Jose area well since I live in the east bay.

Tony - that's just it, i'm in SoCal and do not know the San Jose area whatsoever.

Haha I hear ya. I was scheduled to do a shoot in an area I was unfamilar with too and I hate to do this but I asked a fellow photographer help with a location he used. You migt try doing the same.

that actually is a great idea...
we should all start threads about our cities with nice shooting locations.
i can see it now :P
address and google map print screen with red dots pointing the exact spot :P (and maybe some examples)

what do you think?

i live in san jose but i have no clue for a car shoot other than garages. if you do find one, let me know. and if i think of one, i'll post it up here.

IYO, what's more important; the car, or the location?


FrankC - 20D, RAW, Manual everything...
Classic Carz, Racing, Air Show, Flowers.
Find the light... A few Car Lighting Tips, and MOVE YOUR FEET!

While I think it's cool to have a thread of locations to shoot I kinda doubt it. Sometimes locations are key that make the image. If everyone used the same location it would make the photo less meaningful.

i think it's a great idea, but may not fly with everyone sharing such details.

I agree ! I've always had great luck in parking structures. Indirect but very natural light usually, depending on the level and type of illumination used.

As a side benefit, it doesn't matter where the garage is, it's inexpensive, if you go early you have lots of room to stage car(s) and move around......and it's all very "automotive". A win-win choice.
