We've been out walking a lot and looks like my fur-kid picked up an unwanted visitor. Took a bit to remove it but as it was still alive I could not pass up the opertunity to break out the macro and snap a couple. Luckily it was just a brown dog tick and not the dreaded deet tick though we have plenty of those as well.

That sucker has a full tank! Oh yeah, try a drop of isopropyl alcohol on the area of the head....it will usually back them right out.

I've always used the tweezers method. Grab it's little head and gently pull straight up. It will let loose on it's own. I've never tried the alcohol method. Does sound easier.

Yes it is. My pup picks them up from time to time and usually we get them before they attach and start to.. um.. grow. Clearly this guy had some time to fill up.
