I'm still trying to figure out what dynamic range has to do with a 3-D, film-like look. OP?

I doubt if my 1DsMkII has the best dynamic range out there at this stage of the game but, I do know that I can make more HDR like shots from a single exposure with it, compared to when I had the 5D. Good post processing chops and programs like ACR5.4 in CS4 have also helped immensely.

Cheers!

The DPReview site has standardized measurements for dynamic range. Just go to each camera review and click the section on "photographic tests" for dynamic range. Not exactly sure what it all means, if anything. Interestingly, if you compare an XS/XSi with a 50D or a 5D-II, the XS/XSi have a higher dynamic range (at average from ISO 100-800). Of course at higher ISO, the more expensive cameras have the higher DR.

5DMII, as compared to the 5D. Yes, I have both.

Ah, that explains it. Popcorn time for me too! Although, since you asked for an opinion, as opposed to objective testing information, in my opinion the original Digital Rebel (300D) has the best dynamic range for a 3-D, film-like look. ;)

+1, or 1DsIII if it must be Canon.

I believe the A900 does quite well too (best in price range maybe). Of course if the question is "which camera has the most DR at high ISO, the answer may be different.

hmmmm.....It is interesting reading these posts. EOS kiss III L. haha

I have shot with the 5D, 5D II and the 1DS III. In my own personal opinion I would say the 5D II has the best range. I have shot thousands of photos with each body. The 5D II just keeps surprising me.
