When this horse was rescued earlier this year, he was so thin they weren't sure he'd survive. His halter had to be cut off - and in some areas of his face, pulled out of the skin. .. so he's got some scaring on his face. He's not quite 100%, but has put on a lot of his weight and they're working on building muscle. (in addition to his manners and social skills). He's coming along nicely but still has a way to go. (He's a registered Arab stallion.)

Anyway.. I did a photo session of him on sunday. Since the environment was less than ideal, I photoshopped a couple of them with a black background to make them more formal and visually dramatic.

What a beautiful horse. Arabs my favorites! At least he looks happy now. Your skills are amazing. Any more to post?

Thanks SJC. (blush) . I appreciate the feedback. I have about 25 shots up here: http://shootmypix.com/p647706691 (external link)

I may put a few more up on the site - of him at liberty - loping around the pasture. I had the time to try a few things I normally don't do. .. like use my formal background in full sun (I'm not sure that I like it or not). .. and I wanted to try a few 'back lit' shots with his mane flying. (I don't normally shoot into the sun, but since I already had my portrait shots, the backlit shots were 'just for fun'). At any rate, the client was happy.. and if the client is happy, then I'm happy. LOL

Great shots! Love what you did in post processing. My favorites are 1, 5 & 6. Good to see the horse is recovering nicely from his past 'ordeal'...

Wow your additional pictures are amazing as well.Wish I weren't on the opposite end of the US from you, I would love to watch you work! Never have I been able to get a picture of my horses any where near your quality. Practice, practice, practice! Keep up the good work.

Thanks y'all.

SJC, you can usually find some equine photography tutorials online. There are some 'do's' and 'don'ts' re shooting horses. .. I'm sure you'll have an "ahHa!" moment when you read a few of the basics.. and I'll expect to see some of YOUR good horse shots!!

Great shots and he is lovely. I like that his head isn't the very exaggerated Arab head but still enough to recognise him as an Arab. What a sad story about his rescue, he must have suffered so much before.

Previous owners should have been horsewhipped. Scum.

What a beautiful horse! And beautiful images. He looks happy!
