Can't help on the ID but I hope someone else does as I saw one of these over the weekend. Didn't get a shot but I will sooner or later. Very nice shot of a nice looking bird.

It is a white crested laughing thrush.
It is native to: Mountainous areas of northeastern India and southwestern China, south to Sumatra

Hey Guys,

I wasn't messing with you guys. The photo was taken in one of the walkin aviaries at the St. Louis Zoo. I wasn't able to ID the bird. Poloman thanks for the assistance...............

I was thinking it came from Brookfield, they have the same bird...

I wasn't spoofing either. That's where I saw it also, last Saturday, but alas, the card was full, so didn't get a shot. Great little ham though.

For those that have never been to the St.Louis zoo their bird displays are awesome, especially the flight cage that replicates a cypress swamp. Great variety and great for photos. If it wasn't for the bands on the birds legs you wouldn't know the birds were captive. If you careful you can compose the shot where leg bands are minimal or not seen at all.

Not meaning to steal this thread but am attaching a shot of a bufflehead just to show a small sample of what is available and the type of setting/shot you can get there. Really a great great opportunity to get some shots of birds you will probably never see in real life in a natural setting.
