What is the lens and why are you not happy with it?

What is it about your current lens that you are unhappy with? Not enough zoom? Lens not sharp enough? Too slow? The more information you give us, the better we can answer your question.

I can understand your frustration. I have an older rebel to and the stock 18-35mm lens produces far less quality than the zoom I purchased. and I get less blow outs, etc. but it's not always practical to stand 5-7 feet away from what your taking a picture of. I was thinking about replacing that lens, but can't decide if I want to do that first or get a fill flash first. I'm a ami too! BTW welcome!

Do you mean a digital Rebel or a film rebel? If you want a camera with one lens that can do it all in terms of zooming, consider a Canon 18-200 IS, Canon 15-135mm IS, or some third party lenses like a Tamron 18-270mm.

Generally, upgrading your lens will make a bigger difference than keeping a lens you don't like and upgrading a body. If you are new to photography, consider one of the new Rebels like XS, XSi, T1i, and a lens like the Canon 18-200mm IS.

Good luck.

Sounds like you need a good telephoto lens. If you are on a budget perhaps look at the 50-250 IS.

You could get the Canon 70-300mm IS lens it would be a ideal lens for the Moto X Racing.

If you are looking for a really cheap starter zoom, the Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 macro APO
listed in my gear sig is a very cheap way to get started. Its only $159 - http://www.bhphotovideo.com …0mm_f_4_5_6_DG_Macro.html (external link)

Yes its not that fast focussing and it doesnt have a constant aperture, but it can take some cracking pictures ( https://photography-on-the.net …php?p=8943858&postcount=7 ). I do have some motor racing (bikes and cars) from the local track (national series races) but none are online.

I will try to post one or two as an example of what can be achieved with a little care.

i'd 2nd that lens, but it requires good daylight (won't work as good on cloudy overcast days, or when the sun starts to disappear) and it's best to try to keep the focal length under 240, 250mm. myself, i'd probably take along my 135mm f/2 to see if it was long enough, with the 70-300 as a backup plan.

5DIII, 7D, 16-35 f/2.8L II, 24-70 f/2.8L II, 24-105 f/4L, 40 f/2.8, 135 f/2L, 85 f/1.8, 100 f/2.8L macro, 70-200 f/2.8L II, 430EX II, POWERSHOT S95.... i'm your huckleberry.
