SURFING/BODYBOARDING - Los Angeles County, 11.8.2009

Here's a few from Sunday (11.8.2009) in LA County, during the peak of the last north/northwest swell. Normally, a swell of that angle would completely miss LA, sending us very small surf, if any. However, this past Sunday the swell had just enough energy to wrap through. The results, head high+ surf with favorable wind conditions (not to mention, sufficient lighting for shooting).

These are all great shots, especially the barrel shot with Meistrell. Looks like a much heavier wave than the others. Normally I would like it cropped in more but I like the comp in this the way you have it.

Just can't get past the sponge riding, although the unknown rider doing a drop-knee floater is pretty cool.

I agree, here's a tighter crop of the Meistrell shot:

That's a sick shot! It didn't get nearly as good down south.
