The very first thing you need to figure out is what you're going to be. You will be hard pressed to come up with any plan before you figure out who you are as a photographer. Not to say that won't change over your career or even shortly after you start but thats the very first step you have to take. Its what will drive your plan.

So figure out not only what areas you will focus on but then what market you want to attract. Then see what others are doing and figure out a way that you can bring something fresh or new to the mix.

The way I see it is you can't even start until you know what you want to be or who it is you are.
