I have a problem when using the P mode and flash ( internal or 420EX)
Without the flash, it works as expected , that is :
I half press the shutter button, press the star button and I get an aperture and
shutter speed memorized, I can even get equivalents couples of time/exposure by turning the dial that in other cases serves to set focus, time and aperture.
The problem is that when I activate the flash, I get a shutter speed and aperture memorized, but I cannot get other combinations by turning the dial.
The shutter speed seems to be arbitrarily set to 1/60.
I'll greatly appreciate any help on this subject.
Regards
Jose

Thank you very much for the information.
It could have been something going wrong with my camera, but if you get
the same results, I guess my camera is OK.
Best Regards

Use manual mode and set the shutter and aperture to whatever you want. The flash will take care of making the correct exposure. The slower your shutter speed, the more ambient light you will let in and the more natural look you will get. Look at this shot:

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: NOT FOUND | MIME changed to 'image/gif'

I took that with my 10D at ISO 800, f/2.8 and 1/80 shutter. I used the high ISO in order to get the background exposed in the shot as well. I used my 420EX bounced with an index card on top.

Good luck!
Todd

Thanks for the info, but I do not have an EOS digital SLR, just a G3 for now and it seems to me that the "green"mode and P mode are the only ones where the flash power adjusts itslelf.
In manual mode, it does not works like in your 10D.
