Still very new to lighting and model type shoots and this was her first time posing. Any CC would be greatly appreciated.

Agreed, poses and angles weren't bad but you need to work a little more on your focus. I think your background could have worked a little better with some back lighting.

Some of them were a little OOF but not terrable. Maybe my PP/image compression made them a bit softer. I should prob stop my lens down a bit too. It's pretty tricky to auto-focus at night using a flashlight.

Thank you for the CC!

dude, why do even post OOF shots? I mean sometmes soft is ok if they are exceptrionally good. nice model and I would do a reshoot with her that would involve better poses, more connection with the camera and less busy BG.

For constructive criticisim? I really think that there was a lot of sharpness lost in compression because these photos at full resolution look much better. Like I mentioned before there were a few that were a little bit OOF. I need to come up with a better solution to focusing at night other then a flashlight.

This was here very first time posing and unfortunatly I know VERY little about posing, hence why I am on this forum trying to learn. I have also been told that too much connection with the camera is not always good, so I had some with connection and some without for a different look.

I thought the BG choices were pretty decent. Maybe not?

I do appreciate your input though and I am willing to learn. Any tips?

Thank you for looking. Maybe I should have posted a few of those instead.

the BG is busy but... have your model step away from it and let your wide aperture and a longer lens do the rest ;) THAT if you want it the easy way. The hard way would be matching clothing with the BG (planning), drawing out shots involving and intereacting with BG (more planning) ;)

I was using the 85mm 1.8 for most of the shots which is plenty long and fast on a crop body. Are you talking about the first background? Because I would tend to agree a but but the rest of the locations I though that either the BG was OOF enough or she matched pretty well.

the last bg actually. it is chaotic and does attract attention. you are right - 85mm is good enough.
to make a long story short, i think it is all up to you and your vision of what looks good to you. I am a little bit on a perfectionist side... but anyway - I think this model is begging for slightly more provocative shots.

I think #4 is your best shot. My advice is to keep things simple till you feel more comfortable doing these type of shots. Perhaps focus on head/bust shots other than full shots. There's less to worry about on tighter photos. The poses on many of them look forced and the overall have a dark feel to them. I cant comment on the focusing since the work monitors I use suck really bad.
