Don't throw things at me, but I am a Nikon shooter. This forum was recommended to me as a great photography forum and the few days I have been here I have been really enjoying it. But I am indeed a Nikonian, although I'm not a brand snob. I shoot with a D300.

LOL...

I'm more or less first an Olympus guy.... Canon second...

Funny, I just ordered an Olympus E3 with 14-54, 50-200 and EC14 TC today. Looks like I'll be a dual guy for a while. Never could get into Nikon for some reason. Nice cameras just always felt "off" to me. Personal preference I guess.

I do not own one, but my school works with them (D200's). I've used them a bit, but rather use my 50D. Love the ergonomics a lot more and my own lenses are a hell of a lot better than the ones my school has (...?).
Nikon shoots fine images without a doubt, but so does Canon. And since I spended quite a bit on my gear, for a student that is, I do not see a reason for me to switch in the near future, nor in the far.

Never owned one - never even used one. Don't think I'm likely to start using one either.

Had a Nikon FG that I bought used from a fellow club member about 12-13 years ago, LOVED it, I would still have it were it not stolen about 10 years ago, along with everything else in my bag. Two flashes, the beginnings of a Cokin filter kit, and various other doo-dads, OH and my film, all gone in the blink of an eye. I now carry my 350d in an old military type backpack. :-)

Sort of, it was a Kodak DCS315. Kodak digital back on a Nikon Pronea body. I've owned several of their film cameras.

Those Olympus lenses got me, 28 to 400 FF equal in a two lens kit under 4.0, 560 with TC. Its going to be my primary shooting kit, love the weather sealing and in body IS. Now I just need to sell my 24-105 and put that towards a few choice fast primes for the 40D. Until they improve their AF and high ISO capabilities I'll need to keep the Canon. Probably grab a 20, 50 and 85 for it.

Those Olympus 14-35 and 35-100 2.0's are tempting. Not until I see what the E3 replacement is about though. Both systems compliment each other, for me anyway, making it worth while to have both.

Forgot to add. Nikon has some great features as well, just never could get comfortable using them. In all fairness it was a friends D40 I used, probably not the best camera to judge the system by.

it's interesting, I was just looking up cross brand pricing/availability. I used to think nikon was expensive until I looked and olympus prices. Wow. (oh and I didn't see that they had anything beyond 300)

I guess with the 2X factor they figured 300 was enough or their TC's would fill the longer gap. Not sure but from what I can see the mid and high range lenses take the TC's very well. When researching them I found a lot of users complain about the lack of reach. Kind of a niche system for sure, but pretty much seems to suit my needs.

I agree about the prices. Those SHG lenses are pretty salty. But I can see their value if they could get the E3 replacements ISO ability equal to say the 40/50D.

All systems have trade offs, kind of hard to find one that offers everything. For me its Olympus for the weather sealing, the two lenses I ordered and I do like the colors. Canon for the faster AF, better high ISO handling and a couple of key primes that won't break the bank. I factored in my personal shooting needs, feature sets I wanted and the cost of building that in any one system. Turned out for me it was more cost effective and I gained more by going with a dual system.
