My wife has a D300, and in many ways it is a better camera than my 5D. But not in all ways. Anyone who can't take first-class pictures with a Nikon needs to find some other way to spend their time. Same is true for Canon.

Edit: HAS, not HAD. Just bought that D300 for her a few months ago.

Yep and still do.

I find it surprising how many people have such strong feeling yet have never used one. It's the same with some Nikonians.

Both Canon and Nikon are unique and awesome in their own ways. Both have great glass and bodies, as well. These days I don't think you can buy a bad camera really. However, if anyone is curious about switching to the dark side there are always rentals!
