first attempt at a landscape

Hi every one i just recently joined up .This xsi is my first ever digital camera My last camera many years ago was a 110 film camera haha. I am trying to get into photography as a hobby. any tips and advise would be greatly appreciated The picture was taken through the passenger side window while at a stop light( no I wasn't driving) with my rebel xsi , 70-300 lens and the camera set on auto

You probably need to take a little more time to compose and set up. The foreground bushes here really block the shot severely. Being in St John, you should have lots of places to practice. I've enjoyed my two visits there.

have fun, shoot what you like and make sure you know the basics (shadow side vs sunny side, composition, lighting, etc)

agreed but this was on the way home from buying the camera and was a last second shot while at a stop light so not much time to set up. Plans are to take a photography course and learn everything I can about set up,lighting and camera settings. i'll keep practicing and post up some pictures when I get the chance

Welcome to POTN. You are going to learn a lot here. Keep shooting and posting and you will move ahead in your hobby. Hang on to your wallet though, because you are going to be tempted to give up all your hard earned cash on more glass as you look at all the great images here.
