Can someone tell me a very precise way to select this runner, so I can extract him from this file. Is Lasso as good as any?
It is of course much larger than this, so easy to work with.

Search for the word "extract". Your options are extract filter, magnetic lasso tweaked with regular lasso, or whatever search/google tells you.

I would use the quick selection tool followed by a refinement at high zoom with quick mask.

Since the runner isn't sharp, It's going to be difficult to make a selection that will look natural.
