I don't think an elephant would subject itself to having its eye covered, unless it was drugged or beaten into submission. The monocles do look pasted on in post processing -- again, no shadows. The female homo sapiens, however, appears to have been in the shoot. Joe

Somebody ought to do something about those chains. They take away from the theme of the piece So subjugating an obviously intelligent species to chained restriction for the sake of your art is OK as long as you remove the evidence afterwards? ••Vancouver Wedding Photographer

First of all, I am not a card carrying member of an extremist animals rights movement. However, I do volunteer for a marine mammal and sea turtle rescue organization. It gives one an appreciation that species lower on the phylogenetic tree do have intelligence and needs that deserve recognition. So the image does bother me in principle. However, as you mentioned, it is an archival print from an under-the-bed shoe-box collection. It has worth, if only from a historical perspective, perhaps even to illustrate the subjugation theme that I mentioned. But for casual or entertainment use, I would try to minimize the circumstances under which the shot was taken and lose the chains. Fair enough? Joe
