First of all, I am not a card carrying member of an extremist animals rights movement. However, I do volunteer for a marine mammal and sea turtle rescue organization. It gives one an appreciation that species lower on the phylogenetic tree do have intelligence and needs that deserve recognition. So the image does bother me in principle. However, as you mentioned, it is an archival print from an under-the-bed shoe-box collection. It has worth, if only from a historical perspective, perhaps even to illustrate the subjugation theme that I mentioned. But for casual or entertainment use, I would try to minimize the circumstances under which the shot was taken and lose the chains. Fair enough?

Whatever you do, don't look at the stacking-stuff-on-your-dog thread! ;)

Perusing this thread, I believe it should become the official "Animals with hats" thread.

You've gotta be kidding, it's very obvious that the gal is not that skinny, it had to have been altered!

Looks totally normal to me. ;)

Me too. Saw it just last night. They were pink elephants, though. But the same kind of hats, and that woman was with them.

I know I've seen the original before (sans hats and monocles) but I'll be dipped if I can find it on the Interwebs.

This is a redux of an original by Richard Avedon. If I'm not mistaken, Avedon's was the image that first made him a star. The Avedon image is in the Smithsonian National Museum collection.

I had a "bad trip" in 1982 that looked exactly like this. Coincidence? I think not.

It alone has caused over one dozen pampered 14 year olds to have lower self esteem not to mention several dogs to become insecure about their owners love.

Yup, after careful analysis, it has been photoshopped, you can see around the edges of the hat, just doesn't fit the elephant's head. And the angle is slightly wrong as well, not so sure as to what is covering the eyes? Something made to look like glasses??? Ooops, said it
