Hi All,

Looking for some advice.

A few weeks back I bought a Samyang 85mm 1.4 and the focus ring is very strange. Sometimes its very stiff, other times it quite smooth and quick, most times its a mixture of the both, going to smooth to stiff and back again, Its as if its not lubricated correctly, or the lubricant is breaking down somehow. Also, when its stiff it puts alot of force on the camera - so much that I think theres a good chance I could damage it,

Anyway, Im in the UK, I bought it from foto-tip in Poland. I sent it back at my own cost and they simply sent it back stating there is no problem with the lens...Not very helpfull, If I had known they would simply post it back without asking me anything I would have saved my £30 and not sent it. On a lighter note, i was thinking of buying a new camera from them...Wont bother now.

But anyway - Im now thinking of taking it apart to re apply some lubricant (since Foto-tip are unwilling to look after there customers). Has anyone done anything similar, or does anyone have any advice...or is it simply a stupid idea!?

Cheers

If it works and you can get good results, I'd leave well enough alone.
