Thanks for posting this link. I really like the way this guy sets up his comparisons. This test may push me into upgrading to a 7D from my 50D. Other tests (CameraLab) have seemed to show the 7D with more noise at ISO 800 than the 50D, not this one. I guess the only way to be sure is to buy one and do my own test, for the way I shoot.

Not at high ISOs where both the 50D and 5DII both show their ugly banding issues. Yes, I know, you can remove all that with some software wizardry, but stil the situation remains that it appears Canon has finally gotten their head out of the sand regarding the banding patterns that have plagued the last 2 or 3 xxD offerings and also the 5DII, which means the future FF and APS-H offerings will be very cool.

The noise on the 7D looks much better than I would have expected... more random.
