I just purchased my first XSi and DSLR camera with lens (stock 18-55mm). I figured I'd ask my question in this thread. Where can I get a basic accessories/starter kit? What are good brands and brands to stay away from?

a Tamron 17-50 2.8 (non-vc) (f5, 1/200 ISO 100) shot in RAW, I think the only post processing was unsharp mask with Photoshop

starter kit? just read the manual and start taking pics! start with auto mode and note the settings then slowly try out the "creative" modes
a good but cheap spare battery for the XSi -

I love animal shots, this is one of our hamster getting stuck in to a little treat that we put in to his home:

yep.... you can see that the dog's fur doesn't look natural. flash was too strong.

]Not had the 450D very long and this is my first real camera so just two quick shots of a flower growing in my garden, no idea what kind it is. lol

By the way you guys post some really stunning shots hope one day mine will be as good but more learning for me before that happens.
