I almost traded my XSi in for a 50d. But I love this little camera so much when the time came I just couldn't do it. I feel like I have learned so much from this camera, but I still have a long way to go and finally realized a new body is not going to give me better pictures. So last week I treated myself to a new to me BG-E5 grip from ebay. I love having a grip on this camera!!! I should have done this ages ago.

I know you already got the grip, but you could have saved a lot of $$ by getting the Opteka .. does exactly the same thing and it came with two batteries through Amazon. I love having a grip -- enjoy!

Beautiful shots.

I love the colors out of the XSi and am torn between buying a T2i and the XSi just for the out of the camera jpgs. Or a 40D or 50D (but way bigger).

I did see some of my friends T2i pics and they were washed out and did not have that punch that I want.

Any help would be appreciated since you XSi guys know the best!

Thanks, I have heard good things about the Opteka grip, but I couldn't seem to find it here in Canada. Our Amazon.ca sells a 3rd party grip but it doesn't say it is Opteka. I also found a 3rd party grip on ebay from a Canadian seller, but it wasn't Opteka either, so that is why I went for the used BG-E5. I got a great deal on it and it looks like it was never taken out of the box. The new price for the same grip here is ridiculous, and I had 2 batteries already so it worked out good.

Here it is .. and yes, this is the grip I bought from Amazon and it came with two generic batteries that work perfectly .. it was $75 when I got it, so it's even less now ($64.95).

sometimes the processing is different, the colors on the T2i, T1i, XSi should all look similar. The newer T2i (550D) looks better - HD video, ISO range, more megapixels, etc. of course the older models are less expensive but if the budget allows, go for the newer T2i. Only consider the 50D is you anticipating shooting a lot of sports - it has a higher fps rate.

Here are a few pics I took during the Scott Kelby Photowalk in Fort Myers Beach, FL (did anyone else do the photowalk?).
