Just a question for the ppl who shoot their XSi's in JPEG...Did anyone boost up the sharpness, or any other picture settings in the camera? I've kept mine on default since I've had my XSi...I know it's more personal preference, but I'm just curious to know if anyone has changed theirs at all...Thanks.

Do you shoot in RAW? If so, the in-camera settings make no difference. They will only affect the jpeg output.

I always add a bit of sharpening to my shots, it really brings them to life.

I have used my three available custom Picture Styles to increase my sharpness for those times I shoot in jpeg. One is based on the Landscape style, but with sharpness set to 5. The other two are monochrome variants, both with sharpness set to 5.

A couple of my first keepers from my new Nifty Fifty. Unfortunately, the B&W focus is a little soft.

As you might guess from the subject, I've been a little busy lookin' through the scope instead of the camera..

So far, these are the only "shots" I've taken this hunting season...

Thanks for looking.

I shoot in RAW now but when I used jpeg I increased the sharpness and color saturation from the presets in the standard picture style.

presumably something that helps the DP requirements of the forum .. don't really know!

Every thread is ended when it reaches 10,000 posts on POTN, although the original of this thread exceeded that by a bit. Various reasons why have been bandied about, but I don't think there's ever been an "official" answer given. Something to do with the database (I'm sure it's gigantic) is the answer most often given.

You guys should be proud! The 5D Classic thread was the first "Equipment Talk" thread to reach 10,000 posts on POTN. It's now on its third iteration. So, I believe the XSi thread is the second to reach 10,000, other than the 5D thread rolling over after 20,000 (maybe that makes this thread the third?).

That's a ton of posts.

I have one question on the autofocus - I notice it tends to select points that I don't want to focus on instead of keeping towards the center of the photo. Any suggestions on which autofocus mode to use to keep it bounded towards the center?

Excellent Question! Aside from using the Live View which creates the familiar 'Green Autofocus' box (so - everything within that box would presumably be in focus) - I too am interested in replies to your query...

push the right thumb button where your right hand rests (the zoom in button for you P&S ers) and then manually select the AF point you would like to use. this can be handy for creating bokeh in the foreground, and having the background subject in clear focus.

Anyone know of a way to activate all autofocus points?
