Is there a way to tell what the shutter count on the camera is??

Sorry for the newbie question but I especially am interested since I got it used and you would think that people selling used camereas would list it if you could find a number, like milage on a car, but I don'trecall seeing any like that.

the XSi/450D actually does higher levels than ISO 1600, simply shoot in RAW and increase the exposure in post processing. That's what the other models do but within the camera

It is simply shooting in manual mode where you have a set shutter speed, ISO 1600 and a minimum aperture for the lens, say f5.6. You take the photo and the camera's LCD screen looks dark (underexposed). But that's OK if the pic is sharp! You use Photoshop or another image editing program to increase the "brightness" or exposure of the photo so that the photo can be seen clearly.

another example - a night football game I shot with the "slow" but cheap Canon 55-250IS lens. This photo was taken with a shutter speed of 1/320, ISO 1600, f5.6 and in the camera LCD screen it looked real dark. But I needed that minimum shutter speed to freeze the action. Later in Photoshop I increased the exposure and used a noise reduction program so the ISO was really at, maybe 2500 -

But the info that I provided about folks loosing their shutters at 30-40K is still accurate.

My 450D shutter died at 22K... (about about 1 week out of warranty

Still, the rebuilt shutter seems to be wearing well so far...

just checked mine and it is just above 14k, and just over a year old. Not that I am worried... As there is nothing I can do to stop the inevitable happening.

I attached a mask to the end of my nifty fifty and shot the tree completely out of focus, with F1.8 selected. The mask i used was a bit to tall for the settings but it worked better then i thought it would. I have seen others where the foreground is in foucu and the points of light in the background was a particular shape.

Ya that is exactly the article i read a few months ago..... This is the first time I gave it a shoot.
