Very nice. I like the effect on the lights. I have not tried any shots like that YET LOL!
What were your settings? Must have used a tripod tho right?

Are you meaning my shot? or the one's at the top of the page?

Mine was with the tripod. 30sec exposure and set at f18 and using the 2 sec timer so the camera is steady.
Live view is real handy for setting up. Saves my knees big time as I've got a 1 metre tripod. (smaller, easier to carry)

Here's another shot, with cars going past. Not the best composition.

Hey guys, how we all doing?

I really really wanted to shoot some car light trails, I never got the chance before, I was hoping to go to a bridge today to get some shots of cars on the motorway but my car has been hurt :( so I decided i'll stand in my drive and take some shots on my road, these are the few that I got.

I sharpened all 3 photos in photoshop and gave the last one an effect in lightroom.

I have been following this thread for a while now. And I have to say the pictures I see on here are both beautiful and inspiring. I have learned so much and still have so much to learn. I have had my XSI since July and I just love it. I am finally getting up the nerve to post a couple of my pictures. One of my dog...a chocolate beagle, and one I took this morning on my way to the bus stop with my son. I use PSE 8 for my editing.
I just purchased the Canon Speedlite 430EXII flash on a boxing day sale and am overwhelmed with trying to figure that out. I think it is harder than figuring out the XSI. I have been doing lots of reading and surfing the net to learn everything I can about photography. My husband gave me the Sigma 24-70 lens for Christmas and I haven't taken it off my camera since. I am in love with it.
Anyways I just wanted to finally come out of lurkdom. Hello everyone!
Kim.

Welcome Kim - and great shots! Love that snowflake on the end.
I've been using PSE 5 and a friend is letting me borrow PSE 7. PSE is all I need!

I'll get a Speedlite this yr so hurry up and learn yours so you can be in the pool of tutors who will help me later! ;)

I was looking at that Sig 24-70 today actually. I have the Canon 70-300mm and love it because I currently have a vacancy in the 55-70mm department... It has good reviews but wish it had IS.
Keep up the great shots with your XSi!

Thanks for the warm welcome Chris and Digipanther. I think maybe you will master that flash before I ever will. I seem to be overexposing with it.

Salma-those pics are great. Very sharp and the colours are fantastic.

Andy-Is that a Fischer Price ocean wonders bouncy I spy? Beautiful baby.
