wedding album C&C

hey folks, so i'm in the process of putting together a wedding album for my friends, please let me know how you like them so far. i'm sure there are tons to be improved on, but this is the first album i've ever put together. thanks for reading =)

I had a look at your site and was impressed by the innovative approach being used in every image.

However, I also note that critics are staying away in droves.

Perhaps you will do better to post one image here and ask for a critique on that. I think you will get some activity.

I think they look really nice so far. I think you are doing a very good job. FWIW, I didn't like having to click to your site, then click to flickr then click on each one though. If you have a way of displaying what you want comments on (either post them here...up to 8 photos) or have a sight that shows them larger but all on one page (like larger on the blog) that would work. It's just more convenient for people when you are asking for their help

Very nice the layouts look good. Just curious are you working off a template for an album or is the album that long and narrow I only ask as there seems to be no consistent center for a center fold again just curious.

first one too phalic. the second has focus on the base of the lighthouse, and not the couple. She looks uncomfortable on the tracks, and on the beach (maybe she was worried how dirty her gown was going to get) but the rest are very nice.

i did not use any templates, im making the layouts/spreads myself. and yes, there is no consistant center lines because the way the album is put together by the lab, they print out the entire length of the page which includes both left and right pages and glue them onto a thick storybook type of material, so each pages is extremely thick, i don't know what you call these type of albums (storybook album?). so the album isn't bound like your traditional type of book...hope i explained it well? hahah

on the lighthouse pictures, i applied a photoshopped based tilt-shift effect on that picture where the base of the lighthouse is all the way across to where the couples are, however, i had to stand so far away to be able to capture both the couple and the entire height of the lighthouse that i don't think i couldve gotten a good sharp shot of the couple =/
she probably looks uncomfortable b/c it was an extremely long day of shooting, she wanted to do so many types of shots with so many outfit changes at several locations, so i think she was worn out. the couples are good friends of mine so i was more than happy to accomdate them.

I think the selective focus/blurring is being mis-used. In my opinion, those examples are difficult to deal with in that the effect actually intrudes upon and degrades the image.

I also feel that in most of the images there are too many highlights blown out, and this seems to always be the result of using direct sunlight, which is too harsh and contrasty.

If you are going to set up out-of-doors shots, you cannot avoid giving special considerations to the fact that the direct sunlight is too harsh. Usually, with some foresight, one can arrange to be in open shade instead of direct sunlight. If that is not possible, then you have take the next strategy which is to expose for the highlights but use reflectors and off camera flash to fill in the shadows.
