Hi Guys, after seeing the Samyang 35 and this 85 thread i could not resist anymore to join the bandwagon.

I use the 85 first on my 60D as im mostly doing videography, and this lens is stellar :D makes me forget that 85 AF-D i've been using since my Nikon days.

This is one of "grab shoot" that i took on the last wedding job.

Haven't got time to try this lens on serious stuff on the 5D2 (the samyang 35 seems glued in there)

Just bought this lens yesterday. I have been wanting to get some manual focus lenses for a while and considered the Zeiss line until I saw the samyang. I use my canon 1.4 a lot and felt I needed an 85 1.4 as well. I went into the shop and tried both Zeiss and Ammy side by side. I bought the Sammy - there was no noticeable difference. The build quality is amazing. I love the solid feel, the old school aperture ring clicks nicely into place. I don't understand how they can do it. I am waiting for something to fall off or something. Anyway playing with it in the last couple of days I am blown away by the IQ it produces. The super thin DOF at 1.4 is fantastic. Stopped down a bit more and it is wonderfully sharp. I absolutely love this lens and feel a 35 might be joining it soon. Here are a couple I took while experimenting with the DOF at 1.4. No PP at all except for cropping. These were just shot as JPEG. I really found that using the Live view as focus screen, x10 and a tripod is the only way to get the best out of this one.

Here of course the focus is on the right paw.

This one was shot through a window, but the focus is on the pink flowers.

I have taken a ton of other pics in the last two days with this lens. It has really given me a new challenge to my photography and I am loving it.

it'll probably be even sharper opened up a bit: diffraction is starting to hurt at f/16.
