RIP samyang 85mm 1.4.

Today it happened. I handed my case with the camera in it and the sammy mounted on it to my model to be, and she dropped it in a big way! Concrete landing, uv filter smashed, body of the lens cracked all the way around, focus ring jammed. BUT, after removing the filter, all photos ar crispy clear and sharp. The focus ring is a b**** to turn, feels like i'm grinding teeth, but it reaches infinity at some time.

Don't know what will I do. Theres no budget for a new one, waranty does not cover this, she cant pay. I'll see how much will it last me in this condition...

The 8mm samyang was next to it in the bag, doesnt have a scratch on it!

Ouch .. Sorry to hear of that ...

... Could you post pics for us morbid folk? Interested to see what this thing can take and still produce a sharp photo! At least in your case, which is a plus until it can be replaced.

I've had my Samyang 85mm f/1.4 lens about a month now, not actually had chance to use it much, for this shot I've attached it to a Canon EF 12mm (MkII) extension tube. I love the soft painterly effect it produces;

I haven't posted in a while. I did take my Rok 85 out for an outing today. All I found were some pretty flowers.
