No cocker spaniel thread?? This is my stupid-looking pair, Maisie and Millie (bred to work, hence the shorter hair than usual cockers), in a postcard from Wasdale in the English Lake District.

The first shot is great.

I've not really got any shots of our cocker, Sam, yet; I've not had much time and he's not really sat still for long enough.

OpenC, that's a wonderful backdrop on your first pic. I am curious, are they pure cockers, I didn't know you could get black and tan. Are there working lines and show lines and have you clipped your dogs or do you mean their coats naturally dont grow as long as non working cockers?

Black & Tans are available in working and show varieties. Here's our two Jessie & Barney. Unfortunately not a good background like the first post;)

Hey Whippeticious (and thank you to everyone who liked the picture.. it's the standard picture of Great Gable in the English Lake District that everyone takes (external link), but with a couple of dopey looking dogs sat in front).

Yes, they're both pure bred and KC registered cockers (wet cockers in that picture, which makes them even less like the real thing). They were both bred for working so they have a very different coat (almost like a Collie coat) which doesn't need clipped - and, thankfully, doesn't generally need washed after coming down from a muddy mountain.

Black and tans are relatively rare, but you do see them about. Maisie is so tiny, most people mistake her for a King Charles. When she was smaller, the patches on her chest were, amusingly, in the shape of a bone. She looked like a cartoon dog wearing a little jumper :)

Good pictures anyway, keep them coming :)
