Okay, I'm doing a photo emulation for my Photo II class, and I don't know this photographer's name, or have an example, or know what his type of photography is called, and really the name of any photographer that shoots this style of photography would be helpful.

So this guy takes about a hundred pictures of the same subject, up close, from different angles, and then puts them all together to create the bigger picture, his finished work of art.

If you could tell me the name of a photographer that does that, or the name of this style of photography I would appreciate it so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

This was pioneered by an artist not a photographer. David Hockney, he called them "Joiner Photographs"

I have no idea, but it reminds of a gigapan, David Bergman's gigapan of the Inauguration being the most famous.

Thank you!

Yes I came across Hockney while scavenging google for information, are there any other photographers have used this style more? I'm not quite sold on the quality of Hockney's joiner photographs for this particular assignment.

Nevermind. Hockney is just who I was looking for, but I couldn't find a site with his great photos on it, and now I have. Thank you so much. :)

Amazing that this topic came up - i was watching a programme about these very photo's the other night in which he explained how/why he came up with it.

I think it was on Sky television (on one of the arts channels).
