XSi or XTi

I am considering a camera for my daughter. I'd appreciate input from Rebel users on the choice between the XSi and XTi.

XSi. CF pins are prone to breakage in the XT series.

I had a XSI before my 40D
It was a wonderful camera
Its Image Quality is at least as good if not better than the 50D, T1 or 40D at comparable ISO.

Cant comment on the XTI, but Ive read some reviews when I was researching the XSI that the XSI is a good upgrade to the XTI
I think Its current prices make it a good value DSLR

oh come on, all these people now saying the XSI has top notch IQ, just as I am about to "upgrade" to the T1i. aww man.

I agree, the 450D is a great camera. I have one now, but I Want video and a better screen, so it is the 500D for me.

Figured I'd chime in. I've got an XTi and I love it. It's my first dSLR and it's a more than capable camera (for me, anyway). I'm not planning on upgrading bodies anytime soon. With that said, I've never used an XSi but when I was researching bodies, I thought the XTi would be plenty for me and it is. Good luck to you and your daughter.

XSI is worth the extra bit of money. If the money is an issue get an XS...stay away from the Xti not a good idea.

Is a comparison of the XTI, XSI and T1
Although the T1 has better overall numbers except for Low Light Iso (The T1 has more extended Iso range), The XSI holds its own very nicely , leaving the XTI behind on every department
Im not saying the XTI is not a good camera, just that I think the XSI is a better value bringing newer technology

The XSI is one of the nicest Rebels .

i would say xsi, girl friends sister has one and its really nice. IQ is really nice too and screen looks better than xti.

Or buy my 30D hahaha for her.

I say XSi... shes a beginner probably so yeah. well... its cheaper too anyways haha

XSi (450D) is good, that and the T1i (500D) seem to be on sale now

Our daughter & her family live in TX, about 1000 miles from us so we don't see them often. What I want is better photos of our granddaughter. I put this query out about the Rebels as I know nothing about the series, but I am pretty close to sending my 30D in for clean-up/tune-up, giving it to her, buying her a decent lens and me the 7D.

Thanks for all your input. I had done some paper research, but there is nothing like hearing from folks with hands-on experience.
