Anyway, back on topic, I also recommend the Tamron 17-50. Constant maximum aperture of 2.8 across the focal length is a really plus. More valuable than the IS on the Canon 18-55 IMHO. IQ-wise the Tamron is very sharp. The only down side is the AF noise, but most of the time it focuses fast enough that it's not an issue.

Well I thought it is kinda strange that someone didn't upgrade to FF because of that lens :O I guess it must be hell of a lens :p

Seriously though if I am not so anal about dust getting into my lenses and don't plan on upgrading to FF in the future then I would definitely get the VR or IS or whatever it's called version of it at least after all those good things I have heard about it ;)
