I need a compact camera when I can not carry my 5D or 450D
I prefer a canon and not the G11 or G10
I shall use it for occasional use during daytime of mainly people at work (sometimes indoors)
Any recommendation ?

may be it is the wrong forum-but my point is that as a DSLR user i need occasional use of comapct.
i thought others DSLR users may have done the same (using a compact when unable to carry the DSLR)
on the compact forum very few use DSLR

No personal experience with it but I read a review of the Canon S90 stating that it has larger sensor than other point and shoots, so better IQ, noise handling, etc.

The Canon Ixus 100 or whatever it is called outside the UK. Fantastic 12mp and does video as well. Smaller than a packet of cigarettes I really enjoy mine when the 450D just cannot be taken.

Been happy with the Canon 790 IS. Really small, easy, and the photos turn out pretty good. It certainly isn't a 5d, but it does the job when what you want is a snapshot of something that you'd probably miss otherwise because you didn't bring your big camera.

Most of the Canon DSLR users that I know use the G11 or G10(more are using the G10) when they want a pocket camera that can do....

It kind of boils down to price.

dpreview.com has some nice reviews regarding compacts.

Here's one compact(non-Canon) that gets good reviews.

In the summer, I ride a motorcycle and would like a compact camera as well.

However, it seems Canon is always in the good image mix whether it's compacts, DSLR's or DSLR's with video.

Best of luck.

:D

I've had several poweshot (elphs) over the years and love each one because they easily fit in my pocket. Currently I have the 870IS. Some of the newer ones also shoot HD video.

I got my wife a Panasonic GF-1 for her birthday to use as my walkaround. It's better than any P&S camera though it is slightly larger. Sort of a 'jacket pocket' camera.

It seems agreeably small when compared to a 5D with 24-105L

I use a Canon 5DIII and a Sony A7rIII
