Ok so this isn't the actual facemask it is the aftermath of the face mask. the actaual facemask photo is not very exciting. The players reaction when he realized he had a handfull of mask is pretty funny.

Isn't it funny how as soon as they commit a penalty, they throw their hands in the air like, "It wasn't me."

Yeah - He is pretty tall probably 6'3" or so, I talked to him today about this photo and he said as soon as the other player bent down he knew he was gonna get the penalty called so he was trying to let the refs know he wasn't going for it.

Since we have an official, Official here I'll throw out a bone.

This was a mistake, or maybe a messed up shot by the ref, he stepped right up into my shot. But in the end, I like the shot. The camera refocused so quickly it turned out fine.

The best signal a ref can make! 6 points for the boys in Black.

Now back to penelties!

Sorry about that, somehow I deleted that image.

We probably had 8-10 TDs called back for holding this year in Youth League. I love it... twice the opportunity to capture scores... parents buy TD runs regardless if they're called back afterwards. :D

One of those was probably my son - but his was an illegal block in the back. They incorporated video of that one into the team's end of the year DVD, and I cringed every time it was shown. I talked to the coach after the game, and he said it was a bogus call, so I felt a little better. My favorites are the non-called holds (a girl holding him, BTW):

IMAGE: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2446/4005670054_41a9d8f89e_b.jpg

And possibly my favorite "Who, me?" shot (it helps that #45 is giving him the proverbial "what for"):

And on the flip side, one of the nicest displays of sportsmanship I saw all year - in the excitement over the TD, no one noticed that #61 was hurt, so #57 helped him up and over to the other side - it's OOF, but I still like it.

And while I understand the ref/player ratio makes it easy to miss calls, so to speak, I believe the league is going to ban texting by the officials after this year:

It was a pre-season scrimmage, but still. :)

No, especially since he was standing just to my right on the sideline.

On a side note, after that game I bought a 1D2N and the quality of my game pics went up exponentially from the Rebel XT :D
