50D or 70-200mm F/4L IS

I'm sure some of you have run across the many lense questions I've been looking at because I was trying to decide one. Well I finally chose the 70-200mm F/4L IS USM.

Well I've found myself in another dilemma I guess. And it's the camera now.

I currently have an XTi which I am happy with, but I am always thinking of upgrading the camera so here's my question.

Should I keep the XTi and get the 70-200mm F/4L IS USM

or

Should I get the Canon 50D w/ 28-135mm IS USM

get 70-200.
but if you're going to be buying f/4 IS, i think you should just spend a little more and get 70-200 f/2.8 xD

Get the glass. You can buy the 50D later when the price drops even more.

Get the glass! the 70-200 f/4IS is a SHARP lens.

I was in a simular situation and chose the 70-200 f/4 L IS. As others have mentioned, you can always carry forward the lens to your next body. I was able to get some great pics from the 70-200 f/4 L IS that I could never have gotten with my XTi kit lens.

Glass first.

Which lens did that come with, the 18-55 non-IS? That's guite a jump to a 70-200.

Go with the 70-200 f4.0 IS. This is a killer lens. Great IQ, light weight and easy to carry.

glass 1st then the body..

I agree with everyone else here. If you get the new body you will be taking exactly the same pictures that you have been taking all along. If you get the lens you will open up a whole new avenue to explore.
