I have a few pictures from an airshow I went to over the summer. I was using my cousin's D90 and it was great. I don't know a whole lot about photography, but I like to think I know enough to take a decent picture. I want to learn more though, planning on taking a photography class next semester at school.

How do these look?

#2 is very well done.

You've got some tough exposure issues in 1 and 3. In 1, the clouds more or less fooled your meter and underexposed the planes some. In 3, the opposite is true. Lot of dark 30mm canon makes the meter want to open up and consequently, the clouds in the sky are all blown out.

The last one suffers a bit being the ass end of the jets with not much around them.

Good first effort. Keep At It...

Thanks. #2 is probably my favorite picture I've taken.

I was just snapping away hoping to get some good shots, since it was my first time with a DSLR at an airshow. I'll have to get to more this summer and see what I can do :D

Take a stroll through this thread and you'll see lots of different aviation situations and how people tackled them.

I have an aviation gallery as well at my Zenfolio site (click on the "Results") below... ;)

That's a great thread :D I actually posted these pictures in there.

Also, wow. I can't imagine how much you spent on glass alone D: I need a good job so I can start getting some good equipment. Just ordered a 50D yesterday with a 17-85mm lens, a nice step up from my digital rebel.

Good Glass trumps all else.

Yep. I'm really hoping to get a job over the summer and get a nice lens. The most I've spent on a lens is $450 for the 17-85mm I'm getting with the camera. My mom bought me a lens last christmas and it cost $250. She thought that was expensive  Then I showed her some of the $3000+ lenses and she couldn't believe it. I really want to save up and get these two lenses:
